Where to find us - Durham and the Triangle

Durham is a world renowned center of excellence in medicine, research, high technology and education, incorporating a sophisticated and unique blend of history, culture and ethnic diversity.

The Triangle area of North Carolina, which includes Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Research Triangle Park, now is home to more than 1.5 million people. The area is served by numerous cultural and recreational attractions as well as three major universities -- Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University.

In recognition of its intellectual climate, Raleigh-Durham was named the Smartest City in the United States in a 2009 survey by the online media source The Daily Beast. The region ranked #1 of all U.S. metropolitan areas in the rankings based on the educational attainment of its residents, their level of political engagement, and the overall intellectual environment of the region. The Triangle’s score bested some heavyweight high-brow competition, including runners-up San Francisco-San Jose; Boston; Minneapolis-St. Paul; Denver; Hartford-New Haven; Seattle-Tacoma; Washington, D.C.; Portland, Ore.; and Baltimore.

"During my travels, I constantly find Nicholas School faculty, students and alumni at work helping to preserve planet Earth."

--Gilbert M. Grosvenor,
Chairman of the Board,
