Dean Townsend Welcome Reception
in Washington D.C.

Join us for an exciting evening at the Duke In Washington offices! Attend an “Alumni Back to Class” talk with faculty speaker Heather Stapleton, meet the Nicholas School's new Dean, Alan Townsend, and enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres while mingling with fellow alumni and friends of the Nicholas School.

Nicholas School Back to Class with Heather Stapleton

5:30 – 7 pm
Villers Conference Room, Suite 1110, Duke in Washington Offices

Join Heather Stapleton, associate professor of environmental chemistry, to learn more about the impact of flame retardants (often found in everyday household furniture) on human health. Dr. Stapleton is one of the nation's leading experts on flame retardants, and has provided Congressional testimony at a U.S. Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works hearing on Environmental Protection Agency oversight of flame retardants and other toxic chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

Want to test your own couch for toxins (for free!) before you attend Dr. Stapleton's lecture? Register ASAP and indicate your interest in participating in this special engagement feature. The first 20 people to indicate interest and who send in a couch foam sample before October 30 (further directions provided upon registration) will have the results of their sample returned to them by December 9th.

Free, but registration is required and is open to alumni only. Registration deadline Tues., Dec. 2. Space is limited to the first 80 registrants. We ask that you notify us immediately if your RSVP changes so we can provide your spot to another alum.
