Executive Education FAQs

Here are some common questions you might have while you’re considering taking an executive education course.


HOW AND WHEN DO I PAY?

Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice or at least 15 days before the start of the course. We accept credit cards and checks. Please make checks payable to Duke University Conference Services and send to DEL: [COURSE NAME], 036 Bryan Center, Box 90847, Durham, NC 27708-0847.

Failure to pay at least 15 days before the start of the course may result in the forfeit of your seat and you will be held responsible for the full tuition of the course. Future registrations will not be accepted from individuals with unpaid invoices. Course certificates will not be provided until payment is received. For participants participating in certificate programs, the course will not count toward the certificate requirements until payment is received.


WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

All speakers and companies listed on the course descriptions have confirmed their participation. If for unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances a speaker cannot attend, he or she will be replaced with a comparable instructor or instructors. If a course is canceled due to insufficient registrations, tuition will be refunded. Duke is not responsible for travel costs or arrangements made by participants.

Students wishing to cancel their registration must provide written notice at least 15 days before the course start date in order to receive a full refund, minus a $100 administrative fee. Send your cancelation request in writing to del@nicholas.duke.edu by 5:00 p.m. on the refund deadline date for the course. Individuals who cancel less than 15 days before the course start date or who do not attend and fail to send written notice will be charged the full tuition.

You may send a substitute to attend the course in your place. All substitute requests must be received in writing, and a $100 administrative fee will be assessed for this change, regardless of when the written notice is submitted.


HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHEN YOU WILL BE OFFERING A PARTICULAR COURSE AGAIN?

Most courses are offered annually and we typically schedule courses at least six months in advance. As soon as we schedule a course, it will be posted on the Upcoming Courses page. If you have a question about a particular course, please contact us at del@nicholas.duke.edu.


WHEN ARE THE ONLINE COURSE WEEKLY WEBCONFERENCES HELD?

The online courses will be conducted online with both asynchronous and synchronous portions.  Depending upon enrollment, we anticipate offering 1-2 times each week that you can interact with instructors and classmates via WebEx or Google+ Hangouts.  We poll the participants 2 weeks prior to the course start date to determine the best days/times.


WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Our onsite courses are held at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University in Durham, N.C. See directions for details.


WHERE SHOULD I STAY DURING THE COURSE?

Upon receipt of your registration, we will send you a confirmation letter with details about hotel accommodations. For your convenience, we reserve a block of rooms at a nearby hotel at a discounted rate and arrange for transportation between the hotel and campus.


CAN I PARK ON CAMPUS?

Visitor parking on campus is extremely limited; however, we arrange for shuttle service to and from campus each day for class.
