Aquatic and Atmospheric Sciences
This group concentrates on problems that span natural divisions
of the biosphere- soil, plants, lakes, watersheds, and the
atmosphere. The focus is on physical and chemical processes,
leading to quantitative models, measurements, and techniques
for researchers, industry, and environmental managers. The
unifying principle in the research is the development of understanding
of the processes involved in the flow of matter and energy
across a wide range of spatial and temporal scales within
complex natural systems. This principle facilitates natural
links between experts in hydrology, meteorology, and atmospheric
and aquatic chemistry. The specific current research areas
include: Air quality and atmospheric transport phenomena,
water quality, and subsurface hydrology.
