Master of Environmental Management (MEM) Degree

The Master of Environmental Management degree is offered through the Nicholas School of the Environment. An MEM Coastal Environmental Management (CEM) Program is administered through the Marine Laboratory. Application materials may be obtained from the Nicholas School Office of Enrollment Services (telephone 919-613-8070). Applications for the MEM degree are due in the Nicholas School (Durham campus) by February 1st.

Concurrent degrees may also be obtained, i.e., MEM with business, law, public policy, or education. For the concurrent degree, you must be accepted by both the Nicholas School and one of the following schools: 1) the Duke Graduate School (education or public policy); 2) School of Law; or 3) Fuqua School of Business.

A professional master's degree enables recipients to work in government agencies, non-profit organizations, industry, not-for-profit, or consulting firms. About 30 percent of professional students go on to study for a PhD.
