Dec. 5 - "Natural Security: Evolutionary and Ecological Insights for an Uncertain World"
Marine ecologist, Rafe Sagarin talks about the research that led to the recent publication of the book he coauthored, Natural Security: A Darwinian Approach to a Dangerous World published in January by University of California Press. In his talk, he explains how we might look to the natural world for ways to improve our own safety by studying the survival strategies that have evolved among organisms over billions of years. Sagarin is associate director for ocean and coastal policy in Duke’s Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, and is an assistant research professor in the Marine Science and Conservation division of the Nicholas School.
Presented by the University Program in Ecology Seminar Series.
