April 17 - "More than a Beast, but Much Less than an Angel"
Dr. Bill Schlesinger, former Dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment, and current President of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies gives the 2008 Oosting Memorial Lecture on global change and the decline in spring arrivals of migrant bird species each year in the western hemisphere.
Schlesinger
has investigated the connection between biogeochemistry and global climate
change for over 30 years, and has authored more than 180 publications. He
is also an elected member of AAAS and the National Academy of Sciences.
