4th Annual Nicholas School Reunion Weekend

The Nicholas School of the Environment is happy to announce its 4th Annual Reunion Weekend. All Duke alumni and their families are welcome and encouraged to attend, including those who will be attending events for the Duke undergraduate reunion weekend. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to connect with fellow friends and classmates, as well as Nicholas School Faculty and Staff! Registration is required for all events.

Friday, April 13th

Dean's Welcome Reception and Faculty Presentation
Duke Environment Hall – 5th Floor Boardroom

Join Dean Jeff Vincent and Doug Nowacek for a presentation, “Antarctic Research at Duke: Using Technology and Long-Term Data to Study Ecology and Climate Change”. Light refreshments and tours of Environment Hall, led by current students to follow.

Saturday, April 14th

8am – 9:30am

9th Annual Duke Forest Pine Cone Pacer 
Gate 12 of Duke Forest, NC-751

This morning run/walk is open to runners and walkers of all levels, and draws more and more alumni and community members every year. Money raised through registration goes toward Duke Forest restoration projects, including maintaining the network of recreational trails and protecting significant natural areas. The race also supports environmental education program expenses, such as transportation for tours and snacks for volunteers.

Pre-registration is $25 and is open February 19th - April 2. Registration will be available on the day of the race for $35. Pre-Registered participants will receive an event T-shirt. Availability of t-shirt sizes for participants who register on the day of the event cannot be guaranteed. All participants are included in a raffle for a variety of prizes.

Join us for the fourth annual picnic. This relaxed event will include:

  • lunch
  • an opportunity to catch up with alumni, faculty and friends
  • a crosscut saw competition and other field games
  • a tour of Environment Hall*
  • a formal group photo
  • class photos (promptly at 1:30pm)
  • a special thank you and retirement send-off to Karen Kirchof, former Assistant Dean of the Nicholas School's Career & Professional Development Office

Party in the Duke Forest

Duke Forest Director, Sara Childs MEM'08, is hosting a party at Rigsbee Picnic Shelter (Gate F) in the Duke Forest. Light refreshments provided. Register here. Free admission.

Price of admission

$20* per person to attend any or all of the above events*. Children, 12 and under, free. 
​*excludes the Pine Cone Pacer ($25 pre-registration, $35 day-of) and Duke Forest party (no charge)
