DURHAM, N.C. Eno Magazine, the Nicholas School’s student-run arts and environment magazine, will host a “Beer and Paint Night” Thursday, Nov. 2 at Durham’s Fullsteam Brewery.

The event, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m., is open to all members of the Duke community but space is limited so only the first 30 people who register will be able to attend.

The fee to attend is $7 and covers the cost of food and painting supplies -- watercolors, oil pastels, colored pencils or charcoal – for each participant. Proceeds from the event also help support the magazine.

“Our goal is to provide the resources, time, and venue that allows people to create something to submit to the magazine,” says co-editor Caitlyn Cooper, a Master of Environmental Management student at the Nicholas School. Although Eno has an environmental focus, participants at the Nov. 2 event are free to create images of anything they want.

“Beer and Paint Night” is one of a series of events Eno hosts throughout the year to encourage people to connect with the natural world through art. Earlier this year, the magazine sponsored “Art in the Gardens” at Duke Gardens.

Eno Magazine is published annually online and in print. Anyone – regardless of whether they have an affiliation with the Nicholas School or Duke University –– can submit original photos, artwork, short stories, poems or essays.  Submissions for the 2018 issue will be accepted through February.

The 2018 issue will be unveiled at a release party at Environment Hall during the Nicholas School’s Accepted Students Visitation Weekend, March 23-24.

You can read a Duke Chronicle feature story about the magazine here.

People under the age of 21 are welcome at Nov. 2 event, but must leave Fullsteam Brewery by 9 p.m.
