2018 Marine Lab Open House

The Duke Marine Lab will hold its annual Open House July 14, 2018 from 1- 3 pm on Pivers Island in Beaufort, NC. The Open House is a rain-or-shine event with stations set up in multiple locations (indoors and outdoors) across campus. This hands-on event is designed for all ages and will feature stations highlighting the research areas of our Duke University Marine Lab faculty and doctoral students.

Stations this year will include an invertebrate touch tank, a chance to check out our research vessel, the R/V RT Barber, hands-on STEM activities, drone demonstrations and many more stations highlighting research areas ranging from plankton and algae to ocean acidification and whale and dolphin physiology and ecology.

Stop by our dining hall to cool off with refreshments from Sunset Slush, classic italian ice. Slushes will be available for sale. The Marine Lab has water filling stations in many buildings across campus, so bring a refillable bottle to stay hydrated.

The Marine Lab is ADA accessible, however we do not own wheelchairs. If you have special needs and would like to inquire about accessibility, please let us know.
