My program has a number of graduate student opportunities for field, laboratory and theoretical study of continental layered intrusions. Current field sites include the Stillwater Complex of Montana and the Bushveld Complex of South Africa.
Areas of investigation include:
Self organization and the origins of igenous layering
Petrogeneis of platinum-group element deposits
Deciphering the role of voaltiles in alyuered intrusions
Quantitative modeliing of magmatic processes in layered intrusions
Evidence for and causes of isotopic disequilibrium in layered intrusions
