I am a physical oceanography PhD student in the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. My research focuses on the upper limb of the overturning circulation in the North Atlantic and its role in oceanic heat transport. In particular, I try to better understand how temperature anomalies – warm and cold events – travel from the subtropical Gulf Stream to the eastern subpolar gyre off northern Europe using data from satellites, moorings, ships and ocean circulation models.
I hold a M.S. in oceanography from the University of Maine (2013) and a A.B. in engineering sciences modified with economics from Dartmouth College (2010). My MS thesis on the biogeography and phenology of phytoplankton seasonality in the California Current was published in Deep-Sea Research in 2014.
