What is your previous work experience?
After graduating from Duke as an undergraduate, I worked as a hydraulic fracturing field engineer with Schlumberger with experience primarily in the Eagle Ford and Woodford Shales. As a field engineer, I provided clients with on-site technical advisement and the implementation of hydraulic fracturing designs including responsibility over fracturing fluid quality, management of assets and logistics, inventory quality control, and implementation of new technologies. Some of my other experiences include training in Abu Dhabi, UAE and Tyumen, Russia; and the development of a field implementation plan for bacteria testing in hydraulic fracturing water. After finishing my field work, I managed strategic planning for 900+ personnel for hydraulic fracturing crews in the South Texas and Louisiana region, most notably during early 2018 oilfield boom.

Why did you choose the Nicholas School?
Having my undergraduate education at Duke, I already knew that this was one of the strongest and most supportive community of students, faculty, and alumni that anyone could have. In addition, the ability to pursue a joint degree with the Fuqua School of Business and the Nicholas School's emphasis on interdisciplinary study made it the best place for my knowledge to grow as I look toward the future.

Do you have any areas of interest or special focus you will undertake during your time at the Nicholas School?
With my background in the traditional oil and gas industry and my concurrent enrollment in Fuqua, I hope to focus on the changes and current structure of the energy industry along with the viability and process of transitioning to renewable energy sources.

What are you looking forward to as a new Nicholas School student?
I am looking forward to attending the classes that will reinforce my passion and equip me with the skills and knowledge to make a difference. I am excited to meet my new classmates, whose experiences will help expand mine. And, most importantly, I'm excited to return home to the amazing Duke community.

What future plans do you have for your career after the Nicholas School?
I plan on joining the renewable energy industry where I can work against the current challenges that are preventing the more widespread use of sustainable energy in the world. I am especially interested in the project management and project development of alternative and sustainable energy sources.

Personal thanks:
"I would like to thank all of the donors for their generosity that has allowed me to attend the Nicholas School. Duke has always been a wonderful memory of home for me, and I was fortunate enough for having similar donors that supported my undergraduate education at Duke. I am elated and proud that this kindness and generosity extends to all portions of the university.

"The leap to return to school and transition toward a new path would not have been possible without the financial support of the donors. This support has allowed me to pursue both avenues of studies that I am passionate about, and my attendance would not have been possible without it. I am grateful and honored for this opportunity. "
