Adam Mims was born in Charleston, SC and grew up in rural Summerville, SC where his parents raised multiple fowl such as peacocks, chickens, pheasants and mammals such as pigs and goats for income and domestication along with vegetable gardens. Adam learned about maintaining, serving, providing, and respecting livestock and sustainable agriculture. As his father worked shift work, he and his three brothers would tend to the livestock and gardens to manage, provide, and secure resources to sustain their and his livelihood. He began to develop a passion for the balance required to sustain a necessary survivability and respect for the work and energy required to fulfill it.
 
He went on to attend Coastal Carolina University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor. He was then hired by a private analytical lab to perform various water and soil chemical, organic extractions. As his experienced grew, he was promoted to perform analytics on various diesel ranged organics and other chemical constituents analyzed on five flame ionized detector (FID) gas chromatography instruments. After his experience with analytical chemistry, he went on to work for a public utility to provide analytics for coal fired steam generation as well as maintaining environmental compliance with air, water, and waste regulations. Adam was promoted to manage performance and process engineering to provide data, input, recommendations, and troubleshooting to increase efficiencies, reduce costs, and to promote procedures for training and education. During his experience he obtained a Master’s of Business Administration with an emphasis of Leadership. Shortly after, he was promoted to a corporate position within the department of Coal Combustion Products (CCPs) and Waste Management to market CCPs for beneficial use.
