What is your previous work experience?
I worked in asset management for a Canadian firm in Chicago. I started in accounting (6 months) and transitioned to asset management (3.5 years) where I focused on supporting a group tasked with raising money in the institutional space.
Why did you choose the Nicholas School?
Faculty overwhelmed me with their expertise, intentionality, and mission. Dean Vincent and Professor Doyle were instrumental in the recruiting process as well.
Do you have any areas of interest or special focus you will undertake during your time at the Nicholas School?
With the help of Martin Doyle, I am assisting in the organization of an informal working group of Nicholas School students that want to expand on conservation finance/impact investing.
What are you looking forward to as a new Nicholas School student?
Having the opportunity to attend classes with world renown faculty. I'm also excited about learning and developing my science skillset.
What future plans do you have for your career after the Nicholas School?
I would like to either raise money in institutional circles (pension plans, endowments, foundations, corporates) for environmental projects focused on water or manage water resources for urban cities.
I am extremely grateful for the unique opportunity this institution (and its gracious donors) have awarded me. My dream is to transform and galvanize the Duke Community (and others) to become innovative pioneers in environmental stewardship.
I hope my time at Duke will allow me to become a leader in the community capable of carrying out this dream. Without the financial backing I have received this would have never been possible. Therefore I would like to thank you for your generosity and kindness in sponsoring my dreams.
