Walter Torres

I am a first-year Ph.D student in Prof. Jim Hench's shallow water physical oceanography lab. My research focuses on studying the hydrodynamics of coastal environments using both numerical modeling and field measurements. I am particularly interested in nearshore and mesoscale flow dynamics in island systems, and am motivated by how these physics inform the interpretation of ecological data such as larval recruitment and organismal behavior.
