Friday, February 4, 2005...

In preparation for beginning several days of Jason II imaging of the ocean floor, the science party was introduced to the equipment on the vehicle. Jason II is a remotely operated vehicle with a variety of video and still cameras, and manipulator arms for collecting and recovering samples. We will continue our DSL 120 surveying until Sunday, at which time we will launch Jason II. In the mean time, life goes on at sea, with the crew manning the bridge and maintaining the ship.
