Multimedia collection of eight North Carolina contemporary artists.
"What should this environmental imagery look like in the 21st century?" This is the question we posed in recruiting artists to the inaugural show in the new Wegner Gallery in Environment Hall at Duke University. The pieces selected are not majestic landscapes mostly devoid of human presence. Rather the nature presented in this show is more quotidian. Human culture is deeply felt in each piece -- trees cut by powerlines, kudzu spread through radio waves, the artistic rendering of wind through computer programming. These works point toward a new view of environmentalism for the 21st century.
