Olivia Grobmyer, a first-year Master of Environmental Management (MEM) and Master of Public Policy (MPP) concurrent degree student, recently shared insights into why she's pursuing concurrent degrees, advice for students considering the concurrent degree path and her favorite memory so far.
I chose to pursue the MEM/MPP to make the most impact on our environment that I can. I believe that innovative environmental policy will change the future of our planet. The MEM/MPP program at Duke is unique in its support and opportunities for its students.
Having access to the resources at both the Sanford School of Public Policy and the Nicholas School has given me the opportunity to attend many events with professionals in the field and get know friends, colleagues and professors who I might not have met otherwise!
My advice would be to lean into the experience as a concurrent degree Duke student. Go to as many events as you can to learn new things and meet new people!
One of my favorite memories so far was Grad Campout for men's basketball tickets! It is a totally crazy event but it is a great opportunity to bond with you classmates and get a chance at a season ticket.
