Recognizing September 2024, December 2024, and May 2025 Ph.D. graduates.

Reception following ceremony, weather permitting.

Ceremony and reception are in-person events. The ceremony will be streamed live.

Tickets are required – Information will be communicated to the graduates. Graduates will RSVP per their program’s instructions.

Duke’s Baccalaureate Services

1:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m., Duke Chapel & Page Auditorium

Academic apparel required (no hoods).

All graduating students and their guests are invited to attend a multi-faith service with prayer, music, and readings in Duke Chapel.

Student registration opens Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Note: All NSOE Professional Master’s graduates wishing to participate in both the Baccalaureate Service and the NSOE Professional Student Recognition Ceremony should register for the 1:00 PM service.

Nicholas School graduates (Ph.D., professional, and undergraduate) and other students who have spent time at the Marine Lab are invited to attend the Marine Lab Reception to celebrate as a community. 

11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Wilson Recreation Center Lawn, 330 Towerview Rd.

Weather permitting

 

PH.D. Hooding ceremonies

All Ph.D. Graduate students wishing to attend Duke’s Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony will attend the 1:30 PM ceremony. 

More information will be provided by your DGSA and The Graduate School.

1:30 - 3:30 p.m., Graduates in the Biomedical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Engineering, Duke Chapel. Regalia required.

Tickets are required for guest entry (request process opens Wednesday, April 9, 2025), and graduates must show Student ID to enter.

Parking & Transportation


FRIDAY & SATURDAY PARKING – NSOE Events

  • Ph.D. Graduate Recognition Ceremony & Reception (Friday)
    • Students and their guests park for free in the Circuit Drive Lot. Allow 10 minutes’ walk time from the lot to LSRC, Love Auditorium. There will be staff and signage along the way to assist you.
    • Download the Ph.D. parking map and walking directions for more details.
  • Nicholas School Professional Student Recognition Ceremony & Reception (Friday) and
    Undergraduate Recognition & Diploma Distribution Ceremony & Reception (Saturday)
    • Students and their guests park for free in the Science Drive parking garage. Access the garage from Cameron/751. Allow 15-20 minutes’ walk time from the garage to Wilson. There will be staff and signage along the way to assist you.
    • Download the Friday and Saturday parking map and walking directions for more details.


SUNDAY PARKING – University commencement
