Currently Lynnette is the conservation director at Placer Land Trust. PLT works with willing landowners and conservation partners to permanently protect natural and agricultural lands in Placer County, California.  As the conservation director she oversees and provides strategic direction for PLT's land conservation/ acquisition and stewardship programs. This includes conservation planning, negotiating new conservation easement and fee title acquisitions, securing acquisition and stewardship funds, overseeing PLT's stewardship team and on the ground land management/ monitoring activities, and assisting other areas of operations.

Lynnette also works in an advisory capacity with Sustainable Stables, a for-profit consulting firm she co-founded in the spring of 2008 with fellow MEM’08 alum, Clay Nelson, that helps horse property owners with planning, designing and managing their land and facilities.  (For more info on this read the Spring 2017 Dukenvironment Career Matters story.)

Prior to this Lynnette worked as a freelance consultant to environmental mitigation banking companys, was director of ecological restoration at Unique Places, LLC in Durham, N.C. for three years, and before that she worked as associate director of river restoration with American Rivers, also in Durham. 

Lynnette received the master of environmental management in ecosystem, science and conservation from Duke in 2008 and earned the bachelor of arts degree in biology and environmental studies at Bowdoin College (Maine), and is currently working on a master of business administration through the University of Illinois iMBA program.
